On November 21st 2018, Finn, our eldest child, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. He was five years old. The days, weeks, months and years that followed were the hardest of our lives yet. Navigating childhood cancer presented Finn and us with enormous challenges at every turn. All our lives were completely upside down as we came to terms with the mountain Finn had to climb and the journey we all had ahead of us. Finn’s sister, Millie was four and Flo, just one year old at the time. Finn started his treatment almost immediately and endured 1,174 days of relentless chemotherapy. Witnessing your child managing the enormity of this type of treatment with such strength and courage is truly humbling. Finn pushed on through these precious early years of his childhood with unparalleled drive, bravery and tenacity, in spite of everything he faced. We couldn’t be prouder of him. Age ten now, he completed his cancer regimen in February 2022. He has made it to the summit of this mountain; the journey isn’t over, but we’re looking ahead feeling positive about the path back down again. As a thank you to Kamran’s Ward, the Children’s Oncology Ward at Oxford’s John Radcliff Hospital, for the amazing care they gave Finn, we would like to continue to raise as much money as we can to help fund more equipment and resources for their ward and playroom.
